The Role of the Securities Broker-Dealer
In order to participate in any securities related transaction, financial professionals are required by law to affiliate with a registered securities broker-dealer.
The broker-dealer has several responsibilities including, complying with industry rules and regulations, supervising the activities of the firm and its representatives, conducting due diligence on new products, execution of trades, and helping the advisor fulfill regulatory requirements. The broker-dealers will also provide their representatives with product and industry education, technology, sales support and other services.
AFP serves independent professionals who usually prefer to operate their practices under their own names or brands. Even if an associated representative is using a name, other than Ausdal Financial Partners, all securities business is conducted through Ausdal. Consequently, it's no surprise that you may not have heard of us. While we are happy to serve, our work takes place behind the scenes and if all goes well, we will probably not be noticed. You are always welcome to contact us with questions or comments.
As a fully disclosed broker-dealer, Ausdal Financial Partners does not hold client accounts. Instead we employ Pershing, an affiliate of the Bank of New York Mellon for the execution of our trading.
With over 70 years of experience and over 7,000 full time employees Pershing is the leading provider of global financial business solutions. They serve more than 1,500 institutional, high-net-worth, and retail financial organizations. Collectively, Pershing customers represent approximately five and a half million investors and approximately $1.06 trillion* in global client assets. Pershing acts as a market maker in 8,000 U.S. stocks and offers access to 30,000 bonds from more than 90 dealers.
By partnering with Pershing, AFP and our clients are able to capitalize on their stability, experience, and innovative product and technology solutions.
One of the primary roles of the broker-dealer is "supervising" our registered representatives. This means that we work very closely with your advisor to help work within regulatory guidelines and satisfy all securities industry regulatory requirements on an ongoing basis.
The AFP team reviews client accounts and transactions to confirm that your advisors recommendations are suitable in light of your personal financial objectives. Reviews encompass both brokerage and advisory account activity as your advisor may be held to a suitability standard (brokerage business – generally commission based) or a fiduciary standard (advisory business – generally fee based). We review your advisor's communications and marketing efforts to help our investors clearly understand products and services. AFP also offers training, consultation, and continuing education to our advisors. Further, on a regular basis, AFP will visit each advisor at their office to conduct an examination of their files, review activity in client accounts, provide guidance on industry topics, and interview the advisor to ensure they understand rules and regulations that govern the industry.
In addition to these activities, when an advisor is considering joining Ausdal, we evaluate their experience, background, character and regulatory history. As most advisors are introduced to AFP by referral, we are very fortunate to work with professionals that tend to share our values and in many cases, are people we have known for years prior to their joining us.
All these activities are directed toward one goal - serving our client's best interest.
In addition to offering a broad range of investment alternatives and state-of-the-art trade execution, AFP supports your advisor's efforts in many other ways.
AFP advisors can take advantage of best-of-breed technology including analytics, research and practice management applications to help serve you effectively. AFP also coordinates ongoing educational and networking activities to help our representatives keep abreast of industry trends and developments. Our compliance and marketing teams aid the effort to communicate effectively within industry guidelines. The AFP home office team helps streamline the advisors administrative process and our principals are always available to offer consultation.
While your advisor may be independent, they are certainly not alone.
